Cassandra Buer
Senior Associate

Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Buer served as a trial attorney with the Florida Department of Children and Families, where she managed a substantial dependency docket and served as first chair in dozens of trials, including Termination of Parental Rights proceedings. That experience gave her significant courtroom responsibility early in her career and sharpened her ability to manage high-stakes, fact-intensive matters efficiently and effectively.

Ms. Buer later practiced with a multi-state litigation firm, where she represented Fortune 100 companies and other institutional clients in a broad range of matters, including government investigations, construction and contractual disputes, shareholder derivative suits, professional malpractice defense, and complex commercial real estate litigation. She has since continued her practice with a focus on constitutional law and public-entity representation in state and federal court. Her work has included matters involving local government entities, law enforcement and fire departments, jails, municipal boards, and defamation disputes. Her experience spans all phases of litigation, from pre-suit strategy and internal investigations through motion practice, hearings, trial preparation, and resolution.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. Buer was a middle school teacher in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Her background in education continues to inform her professional perspective and longstanding commitment to child welfare and youth advocacy. In addition to her legal practice, she has served as a policy consultant for school boards in Louisiana and California and has lectured in graduate-level education courses at Louisiana State University.

Ms. Buer earned her J.D. from Louisiana State University’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center and her B.A. in Philosophy from Saint Joseph’s University.
